My newest love is making wooden puzzles. My favorite type of wood to use is cherry because it is very hard, isn't easily broken and is beautiful without a finish. As the puzzles are loved, they will pick up the natural oils from small hands that provide a very attractive finish over time. The puzzles, just by their nature, have some sharp edges and small pieces that could harmful to small children. So "you" have to be careful with who uses them. The puzzles are unfinished as you see them in my photos.
If cherry is not your preference, I can make you a custom puzzle using your favorite choice of wood. I have 17 puzzle patterns and will be adding others to the list. Check back often to see my new designs.
The puzzles are generally 6-8 inches in one direction (horizontal or vertical) with the other dimension based on the figure itself. The number of pieces in each puzzle can also be customized.
If you have a picture that is special to you, it can be made into a puzzle whether it is a flat or standing puzzle.
I have been involved with wood working for the last 30 years as a weekend hobby making jewelry and curio boxes, turned vases, bowls and christmas balls and puzzles. I recently retired which provides the time to further refine my skills and concentrate on wooden puzzles using the scroll saw.
